adecuado y racional de antibióticos, diagnóstico oportuno y

precoz, educación al paciente y familiares respecto al mecanismo

de contagio, implementar medidas de control de la infección

disponiendo de la infraestructura que esto requiera, como por

ejemplo contar en los centros de salud con: áreas de lavado de

manos, normas de precaución de contacto, habitaciones privadas,

limpieza y desinfección ambiental. Para lo anterior, es fundamental

el trabajo en equipo, involucrando a todo el personal de salud,

sugiriéndose que cada centro u hospital, cuente con un sistema

de control de infecciones asociadas a la atención de salud (IAAS),

siendo esto parte de la gestión de calidad y seguridad de la aten-

ción de los pacientes. También el desarrollo futuro de vacunas (no

disponible en la actualidad), será de gran utilidad.
